Chris has a career spaning over 20 years in the mining & minerals industry having worked in iron ore, gold, nickel, and with several commercial laboratories. His formal qualifications include a BSc Hon in Chemistry (UWA), MSc in Ore Deposit Models and Evaluation (UWA), Diploma in Business in Frontline Management (AIM), and Graduate Diploma in Metallurgy (WASM, Curtin University).
Chris is currently employed with KCGM as the Senior Project Metallurgist; managing several continuous improvement and Full Potential projects.
His skills and experience include sampling, assaying & analysis, robotics, laboratory management, mineral processing, froth flotation, concentrate treatment & ultra‑fine grinding, and project management. He is also familiar with bench and pilot scale metallurgical techniques.
Chris is the Chairperson of the local AusIMM Kalgoorlie Branch (2016 & 2017), and is actively involved with the AusIMM, and Goldfield Education & Mining Industry Alliance (GEMIA) – a local community group that supports and encourages the education and participation of the community in science and STEM. He is also on the Kalgoorlie Committee of the WA School of Mines (WASM) Alumni, and is involved with the WASM Industry Advisory Board. This board reviews WASM’s operation and unit offerings, helps provide guidance to staff, and assists in facilitating student internships in the minerals industry.
