Professor Will Featherstone from the Western Australian School of Mines comments on research that shows parts of Fremantle may be sinking, as too much groundwater is extracted from the Perth Basin.
Will Featherstone, professor of geodesy at Curtin and the lead author of the study, described the effect as “like slowly letting the air out of a balloon”.
