Bill Beament is a mining engineer with more than 20 years’ experience in the resources sector. He has held several senior management positions, including General Manager of Operations for Barminco Limited with overall responsibility for 12 mine sites across Western Australia, and General Manager of the Eloise Copper Mine in Queensland.
Mr Beament is now the Executive Chairman of Northern Star Resources. Bill has transformed the Company from a shell with a share price of 1c to its current status as one of the biggest ASX-listed gold miners with a market value of ~$2 billion.
Bill joined the WASMA council as Vice President under Tony James in 2008 and became Chairman in 2012. Bill has been instrumental in ensuring the voice of the Alumni is heard in the resource industry, Curtin University and in ensuring the Kalgoorlie campus is sustained.
Under Bill’s leadership the relationship with Curtin University has greatly improved such that the Alumni’s views are actively sort by the Vice Chancellor.
Bill has been actively promoting post graduate studies via a “finishing School” based in Kalgoorlie, to meet the needs of industry.
Bill moved from the role of Chairman of the WASMA Council to Chairman of the WASMA Patrons Group, the political and lobbying arm of the Alumni
Bill has served the WASMA with distinction over many years. His positive leadership has positioned the WASMA as a strong representative group within Curtin University and strengthened WASM’s premium international brand.
Bill was awarded the 2018 WASMA Life Membership Award
