Bill Beament

2018

Bill Beament graduated from the WA School of Mines (WASM) in 1996 with a degree in Mining Engineering. He brings over 20 years of experience in the resources sector, having held senior roles such as General Manager of Operations at Barminco and General Manager of Eloise Copper Mine in Queensland.

He joined Northern Star Resources in 2007 and led the company’s transformation from a shell with a 1-cent share price into a $2 billion ASX-listed gold miner. During his time, Northern Star and Saracen Mineral Holdings acquired full ownership of KCGM and later merged, bringing the Super Pit and the Golden Mile under one Australian-owned company.

A strong advocate for WASM, Bill supported graduate employment and championed the school’s value across the industry and within Curtin University. He served as WASMA Vice President in 2008, became President in 2012, and later chaired the WASMA Patrons Group. Under his leadership, the Alumni’s relationship with Curtin strengthened, and postgrad initiatives like a Kalgoorlie-based “Finishing School” were promoted.

Bill was awarded Life Membership in 2018. In July 2021, he became Executive Director of a new venture.
