Barney Allen was the inaugural Director of the WA School of Mines, bringing with him extensive experience and academic distinction. Prior to his appointment, he served as Director of the Thames School of Mines in New Zealand and held qualifications in Metallurgy, Assaying and Surveying, along with honours in Mathematics and Mathematical Physics. His leadership helped lay the foundation for WASM’s early reputation as a centre of technical excellence.
