Peter Wreford was a prominent figure in the mining industry, recognised for his dynamic leadership across major exploration and development projects. He served as Director of BP Minerals Australia, the 49 percent joint venture partner in the WMC Olympic Dam Project. As Managing Director of Seltrust Australia Ltd, he oversaw key developments at Agnew Nickel, the Teutonic Bore base metal project and Selcast Nickel.
Earlier in his career, Wreford gained firsthand experience in underground mining at the Lake View and Star Mine on the Golden Mile before progressing to leadership roles including Manager at Queensland’s Mary Kathleen Uranium Mine. He later worked internationally, promoting mineral processing technology from a Canadian base.
Wreford also served as Chairman of the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy. He is remembered as a legendary and dynamic mining mover and shaker whose impact spanned continents and decades.
