Mr Tonkin is a mining engineer from the Western Australian School of Mines. He has more than 30 years’ experience as a mining operator, contractor and senior executive. 

His previous roles include Chief Operating Officer at mining contractor Barminco and senior operational positions with Oxiana and Newmont. 

Mr Tonkin joined Northern Star in 2013 and has played a leading role in the Company’s exceptional growth, helping devise and implement the operational strategies, exploration initiatives and transactions (including the merger with Saracen) which have underpinned its rise to an ASX50 company.
